Getting to Sam Smith Park at Milam Farm
Located on a knoll surrounded by rich bottomland, Milam Farm is a 237 acre
property that extends to the north bank of the Etowah River. The fields that once
produced corn and cotton have been transformed into a recreational facility
by the City of Cartersville,
which was renamed to honor former mayor Sam Smith in 2007.
This scenic park is just minutes from Cartersville's historic downtown on Douthit Ferry Road, just southwest of town.

From Interstate 75 Northbound from Atlanta
Take Exit 283 and turn left onto Allatoona Road. Watch for the underpass under US
41. As you enter the town of Emerson, bear left onto Old Alabama Road. Continue
West through Emerson for approximately 4.1 miles to the four-way stop intersection
of Douthit Ferry Road. Turn right on Douthit Ferry and drive north. Milam Farm Park
is less than a mile north of the river on the left, just before you reach the Catholic
Church.
From Interstate 75 Southbound from Chattanooga
Bear left off Exit 288 onto Main Street. Continue west through downtown following
the signs for GA 113. Bear right as GA 113 becomes West Avenue. Continue west for
1.4 miles to the stoplight at Douthit Ferry Road. Turn left on Douthit Ferry and
continue south for 1.5 miles. Milam Farm Park is on the right, just beyond the Catholic
Church.
From GA 113 Eastbound from Tayorsville/Dallas
Look for the bridge crossing the Etowah River as you approach Cartersville. The
second stoplight after the bridge is Douthit Ferry Road (there is a McDonalds on
the corner). Turn right on Douthit Ferry and continue south for 1.5 miles. Milam
Farm Park is on the right, just beyond the Catholic Church.
From US 411 Eastbound from Rome
Merge onto US 41 South and continue south approximately 6 miles to the stoplight
at Main Street (there is a Taco Bell on the corner). Turn right on Main Street and
continue west through downtown following the signs for GA 113. Bear right as GA
113 becomes West Avenue. Continue west for 1.4 miles to the stoplight at Douthit
Ferry Road. Turn left on Douthit Ferry and continue south for 1.5 miles. Milam Farm
Park is on the right, just beyond the Catholic Church.
