Great barbecue makes great competition!
At The Georgia Barbecue Classic, everyone has the opportunity to show what you can
do with a smoker.
You don't have to have expensive equipment or a degree from a culinary school to
enter our Barbecue Cookoff; all you need is a grill, some charcoal and your own
secret recipe. With a low entry fee and a variety of categories to choose from,
the Barbecue Cookoff is perfect for church and civic organizations, or just you
and couple of friends who love to cook out.
Contest categories for the Backyard Cookoff are barbecue sauce, pork ribs, pork shoulder and brisket. Cooks
may also compete
for the coveted Friend of the Shelter award, where the public chooses the best
tasting barbecue by voting with their tickets. For even more competitive fun, try the Open Pit Challenge, where cooks may cook any entre on their grill and present it in person to our celebrity judges on the main stage.
