do with a smoker.
You don't have to have expensive equipment or a degree from a culinary school to
enter the Backyard Cookoff; all you need is a grill, some charcoal and your own
secret recipe. With a low entry fee and a variety of categories to choose from,
the Backyard Cookoff is perfect for church and civic organizations, or just you
and couple of friends who love to cook out.
Contest categories for the Backyard Cookoff are barbecue sauce, Brunswick stew,
pork ribs and pork shoulder. Backyard Cooks compete
for the coveted People's Choice award, where the public chooses the best tasting
barbecue by voting with their tickets.
And we know every patio chef wonders how they would stack up against the big boys,
so at the Georgia Barbecue Classic the Backyard
cooks compete for trophies by the same blind judging process as the professional
cooks, using KCBS criteria and certified KCBS judges. Compare your scores
against those of your favorite pro team - who knows, maybe you could become the
next rising star of the barbecue circuit!
