Enjoy great food, music and fun for the whole family at the
seventh annual barbecue
cook-off in Cartersville, Georgia. The Georgia Barbecue Classic
is a major fundraising
event for the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter.
On Friday June 4 to Saturday, June 5, 2010, fans of slow-smoked hickory barbecue will be drawn for
hundreds of miles to converge at Sam Smith Park for The Classic. Come join us for
a celebration of food, family and Southern traditional cooking!
Barbecue Cookoff

The spirit of barbecue is kept alive by the cooks who keep the fire burning in
their grills no matter what the weather, all for the sake of creating the
perfect rib or tailgate party. The Classic salutes these weekend barbecuers with
our Barbecue
Cookoff.
Take the time to chat with these folks (many are probably your neighbors) and you'll
understand the passion barbecue inspires. Visitors to The Classic can sample barbecue and vote for the their
favorite cooks in the prestigious People's Choice award!
Note: Samples available while supplies
last. Come early!
The Classic Stage

Southern music shares the same roots in Georgia as barbecue, so it's only natural
that you can enjoy both at the GBC. Regional acts will be performing on the Classic
Stage both Friday and Saturday.
Check the performance schedule as the date of the Classic nears to see when your
favorite entertainers will be on stage.
Kids Activities

The Georgia Barbecue Classic is all about family fun, so be sure to bring the kids!
Specific activities are still being finalized, but expect things like a Rock
Climbing Wall, Bungee Jump, Moon Walk, Dunk Booth, Mechanical Bull, Face
Painting, Sack Races and a Prettiest Pig Contest.
Concessions & Vendors

Entry tickets include five (5) BBQ sampling tickets, but we can't live on BBQ
alone! A wonderful variety of tasty treats will be available from our food
concessionaires. How about a funnel cake, kettle corn, homemade lemonade, corn
dogs or homemade ice cream?
Craft Vendors

Our craft vendor committee has selected a wonderful variety of vendors who will
be offering unique merchandise. Look for handmade quilts, pottery, jewelry,
artwork and photography, and there's always a great variety of delicious jams,
salsas, pickles, etc. salsas, pickles, etc.
Be the BBQ King
Plans are being finalized to provide our guests with BBQ seminars. Information
and demonstrations will be given on BBQ equipment, grilling and smoking
techniques as well as the use of sauces, marinades and rubs.
