Enjoy great food, music and fun for the whole family at the fifth annual barbecue
cook-off in Cartersville, Georgia. The Georgia Barbecue Classic
is a major fundraising
event for the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter.
The first weekend in June, fans of slow-smoked hickory barbecue will be drawn for
hundreds of miles to converge at Milam Farm Park for The Classic. Come join us for
a celebration of food, family and Southern traditional cooking!
Backyard Cookoff
The spirit of barbecue is kept alive by the amateur cooks who keep the fire burning
in their grills no matter what the weather, all for the sake of creating the perfect
rib or tailgate party. The Classic salutes these weekend barbecuers with our Backyard
Cookoff.
Take the time to chat with these folks (many are probably your neighbors) and you'll
understand the passion barbecue inspires. Visitors to The Classic can sample barbecue and vote for the their
favorite cooks in the prestigious People's Choice award!

KCBS Professional Competition
Welcome to the big leagues of barbecue! The professional teams you'll see in the
Pro area are the same culinary celebrities you've seen on TV. Barbecue is serious
business to these folks, and you'll see an amazing array of special smokers and
mobile competition kitchens as you stroll through the Professional Cook Team area.
With their professional reputations and thousands of dollars in money on the line,
these teams are often too busy to visit on Saturday until after judging turn-ins,
but the public is welcome to watch the show as the smoke rolls and knives flash.
The Classic Stage
Southern music shares the same roots in Georgia as barbecue, so it's only natural
that you can enjoy both at the GBC. Regional acts will be performing on the Classic
Stage both Friday and Saturday.
Check the performance schedule as the date of the Classic nears to see when your
favorite entertainers will be on stage.
Kids Activities
The Classic is all about family fun, so be sure to bring the kids!
You'll find activities to choose from for all ages. Let the kids burn
off some energy
jumping in the moonwalk or scaling the climbing wall.
When it's time to cool down, stop by the facepainting booth, or try a pony ride.
Best of all, there's plenty of room at Milam Farm Park for the youngsters to run
and play safely, or just enjoy sitting under a shade tree sipping a cold drink while
they listen to the music from the Classic Stage.
Concessions & Vendors
When you run out of sampling tickets you'll find a good variety of concessions at
The Classic. Whether you're looking for a complete barbecue meal or perhaps a hamburger
or chicken basket for a change of pace you'll find it in our vendor area. And of
course, no festival experience is complete without treating yourself to favorites
like funnel cakes and kettle corn!
Once you've eaten your fill, be sure to check out the other vendors. We've assembled
a hand-picked selection of sellers of handmade arts and crafts, barbecue cookers
and accessories and more. Finally, don't forget to stop by our sponsor's booths
